Flanigan, who competed as Miss Cullman, was crowned Sunday night during a ceremony at the Auburn Hotel Grand Ballroom in Auburn. She’ll move on to compete in the Miss USA pageant later this year.
Flanigan was one of 26 women vying for the title of Miss Alabama USA 2021. She competed in interview, swimsuit and evening gown segments on Saturday, and moved on to the Saturday finals. Kelly Hutchinson, Miss Alabama USA 2020, crowned her successor on Sunday.
“This is my first pageant ever,” a victorious Flanigan said in an Instagram video posted by pageant producer RPM Productions. The pageant was streamed online via PageantsLive.
Flanigan, the daughter of Renee and Jeff Flanigan, was born in Birmingham, and raised in Cullman, according to a website for Miss Cullman USA 2021. She’s in the pre-law program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, majoring in philosophy and minoring in political science. Flanigan, the pre-law honor society treasurer, also is involved in the university chapter of the NAACP. She’s an advocacy ambassador for Filter of Hope, an organization that helps poor families get filters for clean drinking water.
Flanigan plans to attend law school, focusing on corporate and securities law. She’s also done some modeling, as evidenced by photos on the website for Talent Tribe Management, a company that focuses on career-building for models and actors.
The Miss Alabama Teen USA pageant also was held this weekend at the Auburn Hotel Grand Ballroom. Dailyn Swann, who competed as Miss Sherling Lake Teen USA, won that competition, besting 40 other contestants. Swann is a graduate of Greenville High School. She’ll move on to compete for Miss Teen USA 2021.
